It starts with lunch, and lunch does not end when it should. Ten days built around the table: Queenstown and its vineyards first, then the high country of the Ahuriri Valley at The Lindis, then north to Lake Tarawera and Solitaire Lodge, and a last night in Auckland with the harbour outside the window.
Cellars shown to you by the people who fill them. A terrace in the Ahuriri as the valley goes gold. In the middle of it all, a helicopter to Milford Sound, a landing on the glacier, and dinner back at the lodge as the light goes. Between the tables, the geothermal valleys of Rotorua and the glowworm caves at Waitomo by candlelight.
For guests who understand a country through what it grows and cooks, and who would rather stay at the table than see one more thing.
