Queenstown sits on a glacial lake under the Remarkables, and most of the country's visitors pass through it. We use it differently. The lake early, before the town wakes. The Gibbston Valley for pinot noir, poured by the person who made it. Glenorchy at the head of the lake, where the road ends and the Routeburn begins. Milford Sound by helicopter rather than by coach, and back to a lodge on the water for dinner.
The adventure the town is famous for is there if you want it. Mostly our guests want the view, the wine and the quiet, and Queenstown has all three.
